Over the last three years we have invested in our campus to create a place that will serve our community as we seek to see individuals, our communities and the church Come Alive in Jesus’ name. The next part of our building project is called “Building Hope” and is focussed on redeveloping our church centre so that we can continue to grow as a multi-generational church from a wide group of people.
The Church Centre has recently been renamed Hope House, reflecting our vision to be a place of hope. Redeveloping Hope House will allow us to increase our work with children and young people, create space for social transformation ministries and allow us to develop new ways to reach those who don’t know Jesus.
Re-Open the original entrance
The Centre has an original entrance that goes in to the centre of the building. By reopening the original entrance, we will increase the welcome and safety of the centre. Additionally, this will allow us to create a safer pathway from church to Hope House on Sunday morning.
Create new spaces
One third of the centre remains derelict. By reclaiming these rooms and refurbishing them, will create more space with flexible uses that will enable us to grow Kids Church and Awaken Youth on Sundays, Awaken Youth in the week, and our courses amongst multiple generations. As we move forward, developing Hope House opens up the potential for more work in our community.
Install a kitchen
We love to feed people. Alpha, Restored Lives, Holiday Clubs, Awaken Sundays and Collectives all involve food, as well as Sunday Gatherings and Welcome Lunches. Installing a kitchen allows us to do this better, and to grow our ability to feed people so that we can continue to gather around food.
In the week developing the upstairs will allow us to have better work and meeting space as the operational side of the church continues to seek ways to serve the organic life of our church. Better workspace will also allow us to create meeting spaces for pastoral care and other meetings.
Carry out essential upgrades
The Centre is in need of some essential upgrades to its electrics, as well as damp proofing and asbestos removal. Alongside this, several of the windows are cracked and in need of replacing. These upgrades will allow us to continue to build well for many years to come.
This project will be funded primarily by us at St George’s for us to use now and as a gift to future generations who will gather here. We’d love you pray for the project and to consider giving.
As always, giving is not about the amount of the gift but the heart of the giver to join in with this calling to see individuals, communities and the church Come Alive in Jesus’ name.
