Come Alive
We kick off our new series This Is Us by looking at the life of Peter and our call to Come Alive because of Christ’s love for us and what He did on the cross.
Worship Suggestion:
Listen to the song King of Kings by Hillsong Worship. It’s a great caption of our story of redemption and grace, and a wonderful song to keep in our minds as we share our faith with those around us.
As you listen, let the lyrics journey you from a place of reflection on what God has done for you, into rejoicing and thanksgiving in the chorus, into asking God who you could share this great message with this week, who needs to know this redemption is available for them too?
Group Questions:
1. Our vision at St George’s is to see people come alive into the life God has invited them into. What change do you think this looks like in someones life?
2. Read 1 Peter 1: 3-5. As people who have been transformed by His Spirit, is our hope still alive and living today, or has cynicism taken over? What in life tries to kill any hope we may have? Do you believe it can be changed and redeemed?
3. The passage points out that we are invited into a new identity, giving us a new task; the building of the Kingdom through the power of the resurrection. How do we be people who hold onto hope amidst the cynicism of the world and speak of a Jesus that meets us in our failure? (Remember, Peter is told he’ll be the one to start the church revival even though he goes through times of doubt and failure).
Application/Prayer:
We can’t give what we don’t have. Have we forgotten God is really about redemption and breakthrough?
Pray that God would help us see what He’s doing, where He’s working and where we need to learn to see with a living hope again.
