Jesus, The Healer

Jesus, The Healer

00:00 / 26:33

Nina shares with us this week about Jesus being compassionate in our pain, but authoritative enough to work in those circumstances. He sees and knows us, and speaks out over us in grace.

Worship Suggestion:

Listen to Cover the Earth by Kari Jobe and Cody Carnes and share afterwards what God spoke to you about through the lyrics and what it reminded you about God’s character and love for us.

Group Questions:

1. Read Mark 2:1-12 and share what jumps out at you when you read through it and what stuck with you from Sunday’s talks.

2. Jesus sees the faith of the friends, and the suffering of the paralysed man. He knew, however, that the inner reality of the man went beyond the physical pain and so Jesus speaks out in grace into his situation. How easy do we find it to remember that Jesus can speak compassion over us, even when things may not be going well around us?

3. To the Pharisees, Jesus shows he has authority by forgiving before he heals. He shows He can change circumstances through authority and compassion at the same time. Knowing that we don’t live up to the standard they were setting, Jesus steps into relationship with us where we’re at. How can we share this truth with those around us in our day to day?

Jesus recognises the places in our lives where we need His help but also recognises the times we’re stepping out in faith in our day to day.

Sometimes we need to be carried when we are hurting, sometimes as communities we can carry others to Jesus’ feet to be met with and healed. Pray into situations where you may be a faithful friend, or in need of one, and pray that as communities we’d learn how to support eachother in times like these.
