Start New: New Spirit
Pete unpacks the next part of our journey through Romans 12 by speaking about how the Spirit gives us gifts to help us make a difference in the World around us.
Ask someone in your Group to read out Psalm 57 in The Message translation. Afterwards, discuss what stood out to you about the way the psalmist speaks honestly with God and what we can learn from that.
1. Read through Romans 12:3-15. What comes to mind when you think of gifts and how do some of these stand out to you?
2. God gives us all different gifts. Use 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 to chat about how we can use the gifts He’s given us for those around us, and how we can spend time working them out in our lives.
3. 1 Corinthians 14:1 encourages us to “follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit” and Pete encouraged us to be prayerful, present and proactive in the way we engage with these gifts. What does this look like in our day-to-day and how do we spur each other on in doing that?
We believe that the gifts offered to us are done so through a new spirit. Spend time praying for each other to either receive from God that new spirit or for Him to make known to us the ways we can use our gifts to serve others around us.
