The Gifts of The Spirit

Rich shares this week on The Gifts of The Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:1-11. He explores Paul’s expectation of God’s presence, how the Spirit reveals Jesus as Lord and involves Everyone.
Worship Suggestion:
There are times in life where we may feel unsettled, pulled in separate directions or where it just feels there’s a large mountain in front that needs tackling. Listen together to “Steady Heart” by Steffany Gretzinger and reflect on the steadiness of God’s love and how he guides us and promises to remain with us through any situation or rickety storm. Offer prayer for anyone in your group or anyone that you know that needs to know God’s closeness at the moment.
Questions:
Re-read 1 Corinthians 12:1-11. What do you think about this part of Paul’s letter to the Corinthians.
1) Paul’s experience and expectation shaped him to believe that God moving was a normal part of his faith. He didn’t want the Corinthians to be misinformed about things of the Spirit (worship a mute idol!) but to experience the fullness of faith of Jesus. What is your experience of the Holy Spirit?
2) The Spirit comes to reveal Jesus as Lord to us, to our community and to those around us. How can we be a people that talk more about Jesus?
3) The gifts of the Spirit are given to everyone and for the common good. What gifts do you experience in the people around you and how are the gifts you and others have been used for everyone and the common good?
4) We had testimony on Sunday from Leadership Conference about being a church that grows in evangelism and justice. What is your vision to play your part in evangelism and justice in this community?
Application:
Pray for the filling of the Spirit to come and equip you to live out your calling.
