Words of Light and Life: Hope

Rich continues our series on Words of Light and Life by unpacking Hope with us and how it changes our lives when we really grasp the impact it has on the world.
Worship Suggestion:
We continue our songs through advent, listen to Prince of Heaven by Hillsong, encouraging people to really listen to the lyrics with their hearts, after which you can either just close with a prayer or encourage people to speak out “thanks because…” with themes or lines from the song.
Group Questions:
1. Read through 1 Peter 1:3-5 twice. The first time straight, the second taking a bit more time to go through the words and emphasising different words. After share what jumps out and what you remember from Sunday’s talk.
2. Rich touched on the fact that Hope is expectation of what could be…but that theres a risk that comes with vocalising a hope, or a tension. What does this look like in our lives? What expectations and hopes do we feel that tension with?
3. We live in a world of “now”, immediacy and rush. How do we learn to be better at waiting, but keeping hopeful in the process?
4. Sometimes we must look back to look forward, to the historical, to the personal and to the truth of God’s everlasting hope. How can we encourage eachother in this journey and as a community be a people of Hope?
Application/Prayer:
Identify an area of the discussions this evening that God may be speaking to the group about and pray into that are, relating to hope. Press in in prayer alongside each other to discover the depth of hope that Jesus can bring to any situation.
